Poultry

At Furlock Holmes, we breed poultry (on a very small scale!) including Pekin Bantams, Laying Hybrids and Indian Runner Ducks. Our poultry is available for sale as hatching eggs, day-olds, growers or point-of-lay. We do what we can to maintain a flock of happy, healthy birds and will do our best to help you achieve the same. Chickens and ducks make fantastic family pets with the added bonus of laying eggs! We can help you through the process of welcoming your new poultry to your home. LOHMANN BROWN LAYING HENS

Lohmann Brown chickens are a hybrid breed, but look like your standard textbook laying hen. They are fantastic for laying as they can lay more than 300 good-sized eggs per year. They are often friendly, approachable and inquisitive so make fantastic family pets. Lohmanns are believed to have originated from Germany and have become very popular due to their laying abilities. They normally start laying at around 18 weeks old, so earlier than most other breeds! Our Lohmanns are available for sale at 8 weeks old as growers or at 18 weeks old as point-of-lay. They are all sexed so you can ensure hens!

PEKIN BANTAMS

Pekin Bantams are lovely chickens and tend to be very gentle and friendly, making them excellent family pets. They don't require as much space as larger fowl, but they do lay much smaller eggs - although the eggs are fantastic and rich! Pekin Bantams come in a range of colours. We are currently hatching millefleur, columbian, mottled, silver-laced and lavender. Our Pekin Bantams are available as day-olds, growers (6-10 weeks) and at point-of-lay. We also have hatching eggs available, but these are of a mixed colour as our hens are currently running with a variety of cockerels.
